Hi, My name is Takoda. My new Mommy and Daddy told me that means Friend to Everyone, in Sioux, and that's what I'd love to be. You see, I'm only 2 1/2 years old but I spent all but a few months of that time in a Puppy Mill, where I was lucky to be fed, kept in a cage so small I could hardly move, never saw a Vet and never had any human interaction. Then the people who owned the Puppy Mill decided me and four other Dobies were no longer of use and they were going to turn us in to a Kill Shelter.
A nice lady at a Doberman Rescue Group heard about that and told them she would take us all. We were all very skinny and had internal parasites and heartworms. She took us to the Vet and had our problems taken care of and soon, the others were adopted and found new homes. I had other problems. It seems that sometime in that Hellish existence I went blind. We Doggies are good for leading people around but it seemed nobody wanted to lead me. Then my new Mommy and Daddy saw me- they had to send their other Dobie, Thor, to the Rainbow Bridge a few months back- and they didn't mind that I couldn't see. They took me to my new home and I want it to be my Furever home and everything was great.
Then we found out I have a rare form of Diabetes ( Diabetes Insipidus ) and I need medicine to keep it under control. That medicine is very, very expensive and because Mommy and Daddy want to keep me forever, Daddy ( he's the one who carves these pretty eggs ) gave me these Doggie and Kitty Portraits to sell. All the money I get goes into a fund for my medicine. Daddy use to charge $35.00 each for them but since I want to sell as many as I can, I am asking $15.00 each and that includes the stand. If you don't see your Furbaby here, Please ask Daddy if he has it or can do one for you. He loves me and I know he will try his best.
Also, Please, if you are looking for a Furbaby of your own, please, please don't get it from a Puppy Mill and most doggies in those big Pet Stores come from a Puppy Mill. Instead, save a needy pet from your Humane Society or SPCA, they really need a home. If you want a pure bred, like me, there are lots of Rescue Groups who save a specific breed and Daddy will be happy to help you find one. Don't be afraid to adopt a Senior or Handicapped pet either. Just ask Daddy how Special they can be. I know he thinks I am.
